About Dr. Meghna Asthana
Dr. Meghna Asthana is a Research Associate at The Alan Turing Institute, the UK's National AI Institute, where she plays a pivotal role in the Environment and Sustainability Grand Challenge. Her work harnesses the power of Computer Vision and Generative AI to tackle critical environmental challenges, with a focus on renewable energy and ocean health.
Dr. Asthana has led transformative projects, including an innovative solar panel placement and grid load prediction system for the West Midlands Combined Authority and the UK Government. This project is a key step forward in optimizing renewable energy use and reducing carbon footprints. She also developed an autonomous Digital Twin system for ocean health monitoring in collaboration with the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science, enhancing the protection of marine biodiversity.
Recognized by the United Nations for her contributions to open-source scientific research, Dr. Asthana has been invited to the OSPOs for Good 2024 by the Office of the UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Technology. There, she will address the role of open-source networks in global cooperation and environmental problem-solving.
